Select Board 2026-10-05 Part 2 · Meeting of October 5, 2026
Shelburne Select Board backed a letter urging a one-year data center moratorium and conditionally approved an $85,046 energy grant. Acting on a request from resident Rita Jaros, the two-member board present, Rod and Andrew (member Rick was absent), voted to have the chair ask the Planning Board and Zoning Board of Appeals to consider moratorium language for town meeting. The board also conditionally cleared a $85,046 Green Communities application covering insulation work at the police station, town hall and visitor center, pending Rod's review by Wednesday; Energy Committee member Jeff said it would cost the town nothing and save about $1,700 a year at the police station.
Separately, the board adopted a no-cost, one-year MOU with the Franklin County Sheriff's Office to provide behavioral health clinicians alongside police, appointed Karen Moore to the Council on Aging through 2028, and appointed two $20-an-hour clerical assistants for Town Clerk Joe Judd. The board tabled a police department cell phone policy, with Andrew saying he wants "some guidance" on officer privacy expectations before approving it.
