Shelburne Select Board backs conservation of 62 acres, defers Memorial Hall lease decision. The board voted 3-0 to support a conservation restriction on 62.37 acres at Taylor Road, donated by owners Nancy Hazard and Phyllis Lawrence to the Mount Grace Land Trust, with the Franklin Land Trust's Elaine Peteroy noting the parcel will likely keep its "pilot"-style Chapter 61 forestry tax status. Members also appointed Carol Groman as the ninth member of the Cultural Council and approved four one-day licenses for Four Phantoms Brewing Co.
Planning Board Chair Faith Lolly Williams thanked outgoing chair John Wheeler for roughly 15 years of service and outlined work on the town's ADU bylaw and a Sept. 10 joint meeting with Buckland. The board tabled a Memorial Hall Association lease renewal, questioning its unchanged $100-a-month rent and asking "why are we charging rent at all" compared with the town's Cowl gym programming.
