Select Board OKs Town Seal Review Committee
Shelburne Select Board votes to study a correction to the town seal's incorporation date.
Board of Selectmen · Meeting of June 29, 2026
Shelburne Select Board votes to study a correction to the town seal's incorporation date. Town Clerk Joe Judd told the board his research shows Shelburne was incorporated in 1775, not 1768 as engraved on the current seal, and the board voted 3-0 to let him form a review committee and recommend members for appointment. Any seal change requires town meeting approval, so the committee will have roughly seven to eight months to report back.
The board also approved $28,193.96 in year-end budget transfers to close out deficit accounts and heard that the 136-year-old Iron Bridge has one stringer with no weight-bearing capacity, six needing replacement, and 28 brackets needing repair. "I find that that is not a compelling explanation," board member Andrew said of the bridge timeline. A resident separately pressed the board to restore in-person meeting options alongside Zoom.
