Board of Selectmen · Meeting of January 12, 2026
Shelburne selectmen vote 2-1 to deny a brewery's Memorial Hall liquor request. The board turned down Floodwater Brewing owner Zach Livingston's one-day license for a February 14 fundraiser, with Selectman Rick arguing approval would "open Pandora's box" without a town-meeting bylaw change and Selectman Andrew Baker dissenting. Town Administrator Terry said no town in her 30-plus years recalls alcohol served in Memorial Hall, and peer towns Ashfield, Leverett, Gill and West Hampton reported the same ban.
Selectmen separately voted 3-0 to send the state a letter backing the Department of Fish and Game's purchase of Audubon Society land on Brook Road, and adopted a sustainable purchasing policy to preserve $8,400 in annual recycling dividend grant funds. "I, for one, don't want to open the door to alcohol in town hall ever," Rick said.
