Board of Selectmen · Meeting of March 9, 2026

Shelburne Select Board sends $15,500 Memorial Hall roof fix to town meeting as Mohawk Trail warns of deeper cuts. The board voted 3-0-0 to place the green room roof replacement on the warrant, citing a $71,928 town Roof Stabilization Account, and approved a $17,400 annual highway grant-writing contract with Terry Walker. Mohawk Trail Assistant Superintendent Bill told a joint session with the Finance Committee that Shelburne's fiscal 2027 assessment will hit $3,210,591, a 6.4 percent increase, as the district makes its first reduction in force in seven years, cutting roughly 19 to 20 positions.

School Committee representative Maya said "it is the state that is falling short to support our students in our schools." A separate fight broke out between a board member and the Hill Cemetery Commission's chair over use of Community Preservation Committee funds after the cemetery's headstone-restoration request dropped from $6,000 to $2,500.
