Shelburne Select Board bans tractor-trailers and sets a 50,000-pound limit on Old Greenfield Road.
Board of Selectmen · Meeting of May 4, 2026
Shelburne Select Board bans tractor-trailers and sets a 50,000-pound limit on Old Greenfield Road. The 3-0 vote followed a letter from the highway superintendent and police chief citing truck damage to newly installed guardrails on tight corners; officials confirmed Brook Road's bridge carries no weight limit and remains open to trucks. Vice Chair Andrew flagged that banned trucks appear to be detouring toward Route 2, joking that one "insist[s] on hitting the Jake break" through the village.
Separately, the board raced a June 30 fiscal-year deadline to take possession of pocket-park stone benches already paid for, with administrator Terry confirming "we paid for them in this fiscal year, we should have possession of them in this fiscal year." The board also finalized presenter rotations for all 39 annual town meeting warrant articles.
